Since 1970 thousands of surgical procedures have been successfully performed in one-day surgery centers throughout the nation. Because of the success of one-day surgery, a group of physicians in Bristol opened the Bristol Surgery Center in 1985 as a partnership with Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center. These individuals felt they could provide their patients with the same high quality of care, etc. at a reduced cost and with more personalized attention by building a free-standing, one-day surgery center.
